New York Spring 2008: Custo Barcelona
September 8th, 2007

Custo Dalmau will show the Custo Barcelona men’s and women’s Spring ’08 collections at the Promenade in Bryant Park on Tuesday, September 11th at 7pm.
What’s the inspiration for your Spring ‘08 collection?
This season, we were inspired by the complexity and individuality of the sparkling icicles in the final scene of the film “The Ice Storm.” Just as the destruction of the ice storm in the film incited positive transformations, the thaw of the winter chill revealed a vibrant spring for Custo.
What’s new for you this season?
We are going to show an entire collection of bags and evening dresses for the first time.
Did you do any traveling this summer? Where to?
I went to Fuerteventura, one of the Canary islands. I always go there for kite surfing, it is perfect.
Has the shift in the dates of this season’s fashion week affected you at all?
Not really, we will just have to fly in earlier.
This is the last season for shows in Bryant Park. Where in New York would you move the tents?
I would say somewhere around Soho or the Meatpacking District.
Any special ritual or routine that is helping you gear up for your show?
Going through the looks and models over and over and over again…
Paris, Nicole, Lindsay, Britney: Who are you most sick of reading about in the tabloids, and who’s your guilty pleasure?
I am not really into tabloids…I couldn’t choose.
iPhone or Blackberry?
I use neither of them but if I had to, I would say iPhone.
And finally, how will you spend Labor Day weekend?
Working for the show!
