No matter what, we know to expect something elegant, something draped to perfection and a good painterly reference in Jeffrey Costello and Robert Tagliapietra’s collection. The Costello Tagliapietra Spring ’08 collection will be shown at the Prince George Ballrom, 15 E. 27th Street on Friday, September 7th at 6pm.

What’s the inspiration for your Spring ‘08 collection?
The colors in Helene Schjerfbeck’s paintings. The 1920’s and the 1970’s: The freedom of dress associated with both decades.

What’s new for you this season?
As with every collection, we are adding to our design vocabulary. This season we are experimenting with drop-waists and cinched waists, among other things.

Did you do any traveling this summer? Where to?
Unfortunately, no…however, we took spring trips to the Brimfield and Stormville flea markets, though.

Has the shift in the dates of this season’s fashion week affected you at all?
Of course! Less and less time to prepare…more and more time spent waiting on fabric deliveries from Europe. Adds to the excitement, right?

This is the last season for shows in Bryant Park. Where in New York would you move the tents?
We are showing off site again, we only showed at the tents once. Maybe that whole system is antiquated? It seems like more and more designers are experimenting with new and interesting venues.

If you were a street style photographer, describe something that would catch your eye if you saw them wearing it.
Confidence, elegance, personality…it is equally as great to see someone who is completely done from head to toe as it is when you see those people who look like they pulled it together from a crumpled pile on the floor.

Any special ritual or routine that is helping you gear up for your show?
Sewing, prep-work, meetings, eating…just business as usual at the CT studio!

Paris, Nicole, Lindsay, Britney: Who are you most sick of reading about in the tabloids, and who’s your guilty pleasure?
All of them for both questions! Although Britney is the one that sticks out from the pack a bit…

iPhone or Blackberry?
Ours are off or left uncharged as much as possible!

And finally, how will you spend Labor Day weekend?
Working on the show! No hibernating for us!
