Yesterday, we had a great time in a good friend’s house savouring his homemade pizza and meatball pasta. It was both a delicious meal and wonderful company.

After the dinner, we sat around the dining table for a good chat while a few others gathered around his home theater area. I had to say that meng’s home theater was nice - well-designed tv stands, quality sound system, a big enough plasma tv, a couple of stylish and comfortable lovesacs completed the nice finishing touch of a beautifully decorated home theater living space. I was envious!

What can I say? I can hardly believe that Japan is officially in recession. Just watch the cash registers ringing in the departmental stores in Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka and you will agree with me.

The retail culture in Japan is crazy! You can go shopping in every corner in downtown tokyo, kyoto and osaka and you will be swamped by lots of shopping choices and options. The world of beauty, cosmetics and apparel is madness here! I can literally get giddy going shopping in these departmental stores… so much as that I find myself getting tired walking from floor to floor!

I tried getting into H&M earlier this evening but I wasn’t too comfortable with the Sunday crowd and long queues. The only two stores which I frequently pop in are UNIQLO and MUJI, they are affordable and basic, and have simple styles of my desire. But one thing I know, if you plan to go shopping Japan, you better be ready to increase your credit limit on your credit card or bring lots of cash - Japan shopping isn’t cheap at all… not by my standards at least!

There was an interesting piece of news a few weeks back written in UTUSAN MALAYSIA about JUE AZIZ, the actress who had her breakthrough in Malaysia’s Most Beautiful contest. It was mentioned that Jue has been keeping herself fit by going to the gym and swimming. She also from time to time does golfing. According to Jue, “Dia mula meminati sukan ini selepas mengunjungi Dubai beberapa tahun lalu yang pada ketika itu pemain kegemarannya, Tiger Woods sedang membuat kunjungan ke sana”.
