in the world of beauty

April 2nd, 2008

Beauty is an issue most women deal with on a daily basis. Let’s face it - it bothers us when someone comments that we look tired. This can sometimes be interpreted as ‘You look like a door mat’. We will spend money on beauty products and treatments that can erase our facial concerns and shortcomings, as long as we can afford it. But if you are unsatisfied with the way that you look or the way you feel, you may have even considered facial surgery. With advanced technology in the beauty world, cosmetic surgery has helped to improve the physical appearance of many women but it must be understood that it may not be for everyone.

shopping for a career in beauty?

February 24th, 2008

Oh yes, I love beauty and fashion but seriously, I don’t think I can ever take this on as a career! I know of many women who do and if that’s what you are keen to do, then it’s time to start checking out this job search engine that allows you to find spa jobs and beauty-related jobs for FREE. Basically, you can treat this like place to SHOP for a job since it seeks to connect job seekers to beauty salons, spas, cosmetic clinics and more.

When it comes to beauty salons, many individuals automatically say ‘but, I don’t know how to cut hair.’  Yes, having hair care experience is likely to up your chances of being hired by a beauty salon, but not always.  Unfortunately, many individuals mistakenly believe that beauty salons only focus on hair care, but this is not true. Those types of establishments are ones that are often referred to as hair care salons, not necessarily beauty salons.  At a beauty salon, you can find a wide range of tasks performed, including clerical tasks, spray on tans, hair care, makeup application, and nail care.  What does this mean for you? This means that if you are interested in working in a beauty salon, there are a number of different tasks that you can perform. So does this get you thinking now?

basics of simple beauty

January 31st, 2008

Ever heard anyone complaining that ‘I have a bad hair day’? Well, I believe all of us do have some bad hair days from time to time. And for women, we usually try to avoid seeing any business associates or clients on those occasions since we all like to look our best - most of the time

basics of simple beauty

But having a nice crown of glory and good skin is really not about buying the most expensive skin care and hair care. I always believe that the first time to good skin and hair health is a well-balanced diet, lots of pure water and whole foods. It’s hard to understand when people are complaining about oily skin and scalp when their diet is made up of mostly junk and fried foods. What goes into your bodies are often reflected on your outward appearance and in this case, your skin.

finding beauty tips online

January 18th, 2008

Are you interested in keeping up-to-date with the latest beauty trends, restylane manhattan, cosmetic surgeries or are you just looking for information on how you can properly apply your makeup?  If you are, your first though may be to go out and buy a beauty magazine or even a number of them. Although beauty magazines are a great way to go about familiarizing yourself with popular beauty trends, there is a much easier way to do so as well.  That way involves using the internet.
Perhaps, the best thing about using the internet to familiarize yourself with beauty tips is that it should be free to do.  Online, you will find that you have access to a number of different resources.  For instance, you can gain access to the online websites of printed magazines and these online websites often have sample articles from their magazines and much more.  You may also be able to find online beauty magazines, which are like printed magazines, but in online only formats.  There are also traditional websites out there that are designed by beauty experts or even individuals like yourself that have a focus on beauty and fashion.

natural beauty with elemental beauty mineral makeup

November 4th, 2007

natural beauty with elemental beauty mineral makeup

I was captured by the touch of femininity of the rose icon on Elemental Beauty mineral makeup packaging when I first saw the website. Unlike most of the mineral makeup which usually comes in plastic sifter jars, Elemental Beauty uses glass jars for its range of mineral makeup.

For the last three weeks, I have been trying out Elemental Beauty’s soft focus mineral foundation. Nicola was gracious to send me two shades which she thought were best for my skin tone. I must commend her for the wise selection as I could mix both to get the right shade for my slightly tanned skin. Cinnamon is a lovely warm toned foundation which works perfectly well for me. In fact, it evens out my skin tone and gives my face a natural tan! Surprisingly, Sunshine, a warm, neutral/yellow tone which brightens up my skin even though it is meant for fair skin. I did a little experimentation and mixed both together and ended up with the PERFECT shade for my face - now I know why Nicola sent me two shades!

the beauty of motherhood

September 18th, 2007

the beauty of motherhood

I

I’ve never paid much attention to mommies and kiddies’ stuff until I became a mom myself. That’s pretty normal, I suppose. These days, anything to do with motherhood or kiddos, I’ll be all ears.

I have alot of admiration for momma artist (it must be the designer blood in me!) and this evening, I stumble upon another artist mom, who specializes in handmade jewelry with very special meaning. Each jewelry item at Blue Poppy symbolizes a message of love and you can read it in the description of every handmade piece. Among the Friendship necklace, Sisterhood necklace and Motherhood necklace, the last one stands out most. Not only do I appreciate the special design which symbolizes the love that exists between mothers and her children, it helps me remember how beautiful motherhood can be, especially when you can be overwhelmed by distractions, pressures and stresses of life.

the magical beauty of Kauai

September 18th, 2007

the magical beauty of Kauai

When I heard that our Hawaii cruise is stopping by Kauai, I was thrilled. They say that Kauai is magical, blessed with moody rainforests, majestic cliffs, emerald valleys, jagged peaks, breezy palm trees, golden beaches and DAILY rainbows. Wow! Most importantly, it’s great for families with a lot to offer - watersports, rainforests trails, ocean cliffs hiking, biking and horseback riding.

Basically, it’s not a busy place so there is lots of room for pure relaxation. It sounds like a great island to get lazy, chill out, appreciate Mother Nature’s beauty and bathe in the gentleness of the sun. Hawaiian vacation information has some of the best Kauai vacation rentals you can find, with many that are oceanfront with views that take your breath away. Generally, the mountain view ones are cheaper compared to those with oceanfront ones so it’s really up to you. The site also has great options for Oahu vacation rentals if you are planning to head to this island too, being home to the infamous Waikiki beach. Oh… did I tell you I’m spending a week in Oahu
