Blink 182 - Band Profile

Although Blink 182 are no longer with us, loads of people remember them for their cool style, funny punky songs and hilarious gigs.

Blink 182 were formed in 1992 by Tom DeLonge (Vocals, Guitar) and Mark Hoppus (Bass, Guitar). Their drummer was Scott Raynor, although he was replaced by the heavily tattooed Travis Barker in 1998. Their first album Buddha was released in 1993 and re-released in 1998.

In 1994 the band released their album Cheshire Cat, which was recorded in three days. In 1997, the band released third full-length album Dude Ranch. This was the last album Raynor worked on before he left, and the song Dammit proved to be a modest hit in the charts.

The Dresden Dolls - Band Profile

The Dresden Dolls consist of Amanda Palmer (Vocals, Piano) and Brian Viglione (Drums, Guitar). They formed in 2001 in Massachusetts and describe themselves as “Brechtian punk cabaret”- although many people see them as gothic. Their gigs are well reputed for being exciting circus shows, full of acrobats and fire breathers.

Palmer and Viglione met at a Halloween party and soon threw themselves into performing together. Their self-titled debut was released in 2004 and covered various topics from boys to the 911 attacks. A year later they supported Nine Inch Nails on tour and threw themselves into touring the UK.

H.I.M - Band Profile

H.I.M formed in 1991 in Finland and consist of Ville Valo (Vocals), Mikko Lindstrom (Guitar) Janne Puurtinen (Keyboards), Mikki Paananen (Bass) and Mika Karppinen (Drums). The band name HIM initally stood for His Infernal Majesty, but the band decided to drop this as a lot of their Finnish fans had problems pronouncing it. HIM describe themself as “Love Metal” and are well reputed for having a very eclectic musical style and being a fan of cover versions`- covering Chris Isaaks, Neil Diamond and Blue Oyster Cult Amongst others

Fall Out Boy - Band Profile

The Simpsons have a lot to answer for. Not only have they brought comedy joy to millions and millions of people, they are also responsible for Fall Out Boy’s name. The band are named after Springfield Superhero Radioactive Man’s sidekick.

Not only did Fall Out Boy (the band, not the cartoon character!) perform at Live Earth, they also have their own clothing line, performed with Timbaland and courted controversy by taking chimpanzees to the Kerrang Awards. Could Fall Out Boy be the biggest emo band at the moment?
