But first, let’s understand what fused glass really is. From the website of Amy Burhoe, I gather that it is actually layers of glass melted together using a kiln which is a specialized type of oven. Many techniques can be used to alter the glass and the process can last anywhere from 6 to 24 hours! At the peak temperature (usually around 1475 degrees!) the glass is molten red.
