Another La Mer Product Review: The Hydration Infusion

October 26th, 2008

As if I haven’t had enough of La Mer beauty products but I was all excited when I received my invitation to collect my La Mer Hydration Infusion sample - I was delighted!

Being a devotee of La Mer for almost a year, I have to say that I am very well pleased with the range of La Mer products in my collection. Currently, I’m using the La Mer cleansing foam, La Mer radiant infusion, La Mer The Concentrate, La Mer lifting face serum, La Mer lifting intensifier, the Refining Facial, The Whitening Lotion and the Creme de la Mer, in cream and gel form.

The La Mer hydration infusion feels a little watery compared to the Radiant Infusion but slightly thicker than its whitening lotion. Packed with vitamins, minerals, tourmaline and Hydrating Ferments, the La Mer Hydration Infusion refreshes and revives a moisture deprived facial skin and preps the face before applying the creme de la mer. The La Mer hydration infusion is supposed to boost the transformational benefits of Crème de la Mer and fade fine lines and wrinkles after a period of faithful applications.

21 The Movie on MIT Blackjack Team - Movie Review

April 20th, 2008

The Movie is about a group of MIT students who counted cards to win millions playing blackjack and beat the house in Vegas. The movie is based on Ben Mezrich’s best-selling nonfiction book “Bringing Down the House: The Inside Story of Six M.I.T. Students Who Took Vegas for Millions,”.

Ben Campbell (played by Jim Sturgess and based on Jeffrey Ma ’94) is a most gifted student in MIT. But he got one problem, money for his education. Super math genius Ben Campbell originally joins the ring in order to come up with the $300,000 he needs for tuition money for medical school at Harvard University, but he’s also gaga over the ring’s resident babe, Jill (Kate Bosworth). The team was short of one member since “Jimmy got a job at Google”. What starts out as a plan to make $300,000 and quit soon transforms into an addiction to the game and lifestyle as Ben begins to ignore all of his rational thoughts, the skill that made him an asset in the first place. In the midst of backstabbing and back room brawls with the very scary Laurence Fishburne, the audience wonders whether Ben will be able to return the clear-headed guy he was or if Vegas will destroy him.

Bullet for My Valentine - Scream Aim Fire - Album Review

February 16th, 2008

Bullet for My Valentine - Scream Aim Fire - Album Review

Wales is not a country known more for its opera singers and cheesy sixties crooners than its metal bands but Bullet For My Valentine seem to be the exception to the rule.

The band have just released their second album Scream Aim Fire. The eponymous title track is a good start, lots of shredding guitars, hectic drumming and vocals you can headbang to. The mood of the album changes slightly with Hearts Burn into Fire - it could almost be classed as a power ballad if it were a little bit cheesier. End of Days is a favourite of mine and could possibly be a future single.

Sons and Daughters - This Gift - Album Review

Sons and Daughters - This Gift - Album Review

This Gift is Glaswegian Sons and Daughters third album, which has been produced by ex-Suede’s Bernard Butler. Is this enough to warrant it a success?

Opening song Gilt Complex is a feisty stomper of a tune, whilst Rebel with the Ghost shows off Adele Bethel’s beautiful voice.

House in my Head should be commended for it’s loudness - the guitar riff at the start is almost enough to make you fall off your chair. Most current single Darling with its sleazy guitar riff and angelic vocals may sound like a contradiction in terms but it works incredibly well.

British Sea Power - Do You Like Rock Music - Album Review

January 30th, 2008

British Sea Power - Do You Like Rock Music - Album Review

Do you like rock music? British Sea Power certainly do. The Brighton foursome have released their third album, but is it any good?

Similar to their last two albums, the band have produced a quirky album which is easy to get into and has an almost ethereal sound to it. Current single Waving Flags is a particular standpoint, with its hypnotic drum beats, soothiing vocals and well-thought out lyrics. Lights out for Darker Skies is a rocking track with loud shredding guitars, whilst Atom bounces around madly and is probably the most lively song on the album.

review on Monave versatile mineral powders

When it comes to beauty, I must confess that I’m that sort who choose short-cuts and quick solutions to looking good. This explains why I’ve never been a liquid foundation user and my regular make up regime is always a quick dust of loose powder, bronzer, defining my eye brows (a must-must-must) and a shimmer on my lips. I don’t like to spend more than fifteen minutes in front of the mirror, inclusive toning and moisturizing my face. So when I first tried mineral makeup, I knew it was made for me.

Paris Fashion Week: Round up review

Paris Fashion Week: Round up review

While Milan had romance, Paris said it with flowers. The floral dance began at Balenciaga, where Nicolas Ghesquière delivered an electrifying collection in peony, rose, gladioli, violet and gardenia prints from the archives, digitally enhanced for supranormal shape and colour possible only in computer-land.

In sumptuous fabrics, such as silk faille and radzimir, his sculpted short dresses and micro-suits over shorts appeared as dazzling as sunlight on stained glass.

my AmyKathryn handbag review: marigold leopard

October 3rd, 2007

That morning, I was greeting by a big package on the dining table. I opened up and DH was noticing that big smile on my face. It was a AmyKathryn bag that had just arrived for review - I was thrilled!

my AmyKathryn handbag review: marigold leopard

I had a confession to Amy Hall, the powerhouse designer behind the range of animal-friendly bags that became popular among celebrities. I wasn’t a big fan of leopard designs. So when I saw my Marigold Leopard, fabricated with leopard suede and animal friendly faux leather, I wasn’t sure how to carry this off. I’m a graphic designer so that helps to explore the creative side of me in trying out new styles and fashion taste. I decided to get adventurous especially after DH gave me a firm nod that I would look great with the bag. I gave it a ‘real’ trial by bringing it with me during my short weekend trip to Singapore.
